#1 Elbow guards

January 1st, 2009

Our house was always the house where my son’s friends hung out.  So I have a lot of experience around teenage boys and sports equipment.  Even so, I’m not sure what sport these elbow guards are for.  One of Daniel’s friends left them inside a backpack shoved into the back of our front hall closet.  I just dug out the bag this week and nothing else inside is worth saving.  It’s been at least 5 years; whoever owned these is now a college sophomore and I doubt he’ll miss them.

    Darryle,
I think you need one more option: Donate to charity. I will act as the monthly pickup person to take donateable (is that a word?) stuff to the SPCA shop, Goodwill or other charity that your readers vote on. And the “Toss” stuff can go to The Last Chance Mercantile. Let me know what you think…

I agree, had the same idea, give to charity. Or if not, give me the elephant napkin set, I WOULD use them, lol

Sorry this vote accidentally got on the slippers list.
I think these guards may actually be KNEE guards, for roller-blading or skate-boarding. If you turn the photo around, you can see the formation of knees.
Anybody know a young athlete out there?

I think you should donate them to a local thrift shop. I’m certain someone will be delighted to find them there and in today’s economy, knee pads at the local sports mart might just be beyond the family budget.

I tossed everything but the Mel Brooks shirt.

If a thing brings back memories and they aren’t happy ones, toss it.

If a thing brings back happy memories but it’s clutter, give the thing decent last rites and THEN toss it.

If a thing brings back happy memories, if there’s a really convenient place to keep it that causes you no problems, and if you don’t do this way too often, keep it.

Karen, your offer is SO like you. Actually I will be donating everything that says “toss” plus most of everything that doesn’t make it onto the blog. Donation will be very convenient—since I just moved my mosaic studio right over the thrift shop where I normally donate everything–you are welcome to come and help me anytime–so sweet and thoughtful of you to volunteer to do it FOR me. you’re the best!
