#17 Silk scarves
January 17th, 2009

I wore one of these little square scarves tied around my neck almost every day when I was a TV newscaster.
I love color and patterns and I’d match them to my outfits. It was like making my own personal fashion statement.
I still see lots of women use little scarves. Tied around a bag. Around a ponytail. Around someone’s neck, like I used to do.
I put mine away once I stopped wearing them for work. I love creating things, and mixing patterns, and I used to think about things I could make out of my smaller scarves–skirts, blouses, belts. Only I don’t sew.
So it’s pretty safe for me to make one more personal fashion statement: I will never do anything with these scarves. Including wear them.

How about having someone make a quilt out of them for you?
Scarves make great “green” wrappings for presents. We use cloth for xmas. It’s terrific.
I’m so torn. These babies are scarfalicious, they have a lovely, camp vintage quality to them. I would love them. By the same right, I think about peeps in need, and being able to give a jhush when going for an interview, or to feel good hot! Notice, I’ve given the recipient a back-story… oy.
I would LOVE these, I’m an 18 year old girl and one of the newest trends are silk scarves. I think they are beautiful!!
I would love to have these for my mom. She would wear these for work. As she has gotten older, she is a little self-conscious about her neck and these would work wonderfully for her. My daughter, age 19, would use any my Mom did not care for and thus not one would go to waste. Thank you for considering my request and bless you for sharing your stories and your stuff.
Hi I don’t know if you have any of these scarves left, I would like to recieve them for avery close friend and for my mother. They both love scarves and don’t have the oppurtunity to aquirre such beautiful ones. I myself like them yet I always LOVE to give the ones that are close in my heart gifts all the time! that’s what I love doing the most.

Now I wish I’d started this blog before the holidays, not after. I LOVE the idea of using scarves or fabric instead of gift wrap. Thanks!!
Katie, Bubs, FYI re: donations. The stuff I post here has either sentimental value or other significance–and I love the idea of connecting my stuff with someone who will really want it–i.e. a parent whose child loves dancing OR someone like Katie who loves scarves. For every item listed here, there will be a huge pile donated to local charities and thrift shops. Embarrassingly, I have more than enough clutter for all.
