Prada: Pretty in Pink
March 29th, 2009
When times are tough, people buy pink. At least according to the New York Times Style section a couple weeks ago. I get that—-and I definitely believe different colors can affect our moods. Maybe wearing pink is like seeing the world through rose-colored glasses.
After I read that article I thought about this Prada bag I bought years ago and never use. My daughter isn’t a pink person either. So I figure in our current economy—Prada + Pink is the perfect color combination.
If you would like this item, please let me know in a comment. If you know someone else who might like it, I hope you’ll share this and let them know.

I would love the bag–I am currently using an old backpack that my daughter discarded. I think it might be time for an upgrade!

My friend Jan is a breast cancer survivor. As the owner of haunted houses (Hotel Fear and The Asylum in Las Veas), she is self employed, therefore self insured. Her funds were depleted due to astronomical medical bills and now, in this economy, her business is failing. I would love to be able to give her something that reminds her that she is a survivor (Pink) and a success (Prada). Please consider Jan when deciding on who to give this to! She is an amazing woman and has the kindest heart and I’ve been blessed just by knowing her.

My daughter will be turning 17 in June; do you remember turning 17? It tends to be anti-climactic coming between the heady “turning 16 now I can drive” and the proud “18 now it’s up to me” birthdays! She still likes pink things, and this bag would be a nice way to honor her 17th year.

Ohhhh I LOVE IT!! I am a Passion Diva here in the gloomy Pacific NW and as you know a Passion Diva should carry a ‘Diva’ bag! Right now I am not carrying the cutest of handbags…and have been on the lookout for JUST THE RIGHT ONE…this one fits the bill…or shoulder shall I say! (o:
Please consider ME (heehee) here in the oh so rainy and cold Pacific NW when homing your beautiful PINK (my fav. color) Prada bag! It would have a great home…go to lots of parties…and share many a photo opp with ME!

Just started following your blog in the past week and never thought I’d post a comment to take an item off your hands…But, when I saw this bag, I thought, “job interview power purse.” Perfect shape, well-constructed, and optimistic color! Just what I could use! I was laid off a while back and couldn’t face looking for a job right away. I could use this purse to bolster my confidence and open doors while on the prowl for a job to pay the rent and keep food on the table. Thanks for considering me! And good luck to the others =:)

As a Mary Kay Consultant, Pink = Power! I would be proud to carry this purse and as a mom, it would be nice to not have to carry the “mom purse” around all the time!

i have been looking for a purse for spring. i think there is nothing like a new fun purse to bring the feeling of spring when it is snowing outside at the end of march!

A pink purse is a personal preference. Say that quick 4 times!
I actually like the bag, love Prada and wear pink occasionally, but most likely would give it a friend who has a survived breast cancer.

There once was a handbag called “Prada,”
Who cried, “My owner says, ‘Nada’”!
Then Ellen wrote in
Thinking “It’s not a sin
“To win ‘Pinkie’ and style quite a lotta.”

I don’t think that I am more deserving of this purse than anyone else. I just think that it is adorable and it will be put to good use. Good luck to all of the others, especially the breast cancer survivors.

I was so touched by Wendy’s story of her courageous friend, Jan. Please consider giving the pink (survivor) purse (there will be more money) to her. Thanks so much.

I had to interject how much I appreciate the comments–and the fact that Cluttercast inspired its first poetry! Your comments on breast cancer survivors reflects the thoughtfulness and generosity of this community. As a survivor myself, although I don’t wear much pink, obviously it carries a special significance. Even so, it’s really challenging to choose who should get something—-I’m taking it all to heart, but making decisions is hard, and there’s a good chance I’ll just toss names in a hat again. Feel free to let me know what you think I should do.

Times are tough everywhere and I would love to have this purse. BUT, I agree with NYNancy….I think it should go to Wendy Brewer. My Mom is a Breast Cancer survivor, and this would make a great gift for anyone that has lived with this disease.

If you throw names in a hat, please add me! We are a house of 3 girls, so a pink purse would be most appropriate. Love it & would put it to good use.

My momi wants this purse so I guess I have just as good a chance as anyone to get it for her if you decide to put everyones name in a hat. I think it’s a good idea. The plus side is I can always borrow it if we win.

I’d love to get this purse and give it to my mom. She’s not a breast cancer survivor, but she’s been through a lot the past few years – divorce from my dad after 30 years of marriage, two falls, both of which required her to have emergency surgery on her leg (which now prevents her from driving a car without the use of hand controls), She met and began dating a man who was a nasty con artist and she somehow managed to give him close to $40k before she realized he wasn’t going to stick around and care for her as he had once promised. She’s in need of a little pick me up, and a pretty pink purse just might do the trick!
