Time for teachers

At the end of every school year,  I would always be in a last minute panic about what to do for my children’s teachers.   I think teachers are heroes– so anything we do to honor them is not even close to what they deserve.

One year I thought I’d be smart and avoid my usual procrastination.  Early in the year,  I saw these pretty silver-plated jewelry boxes lined in blue velvet.  My plan was to get them engraved for my kids’ teachers when the time came for teachers’ gifts.

The time came.  And went.   I’m sure I panicked as usual and  bought something at the last minute, forgetting the jewelry boxes and my plan.   By the time I remembered —which is now—both of my kids are almost old enough to be teachers themselves.

(2 silver-plated jewelry boxes, brand new)

HOW TO WIN:  If you would like one of these boxes, please  leave a comment and let me know you are a teacher, or something special about a teacher.   If you know someone else who might like this item, I hope you’ll share this and let them know.

I have been a 5th grade teacher for 19 years. I teach at a year round school, so we still have abut 6 weeks left to go. Parents we love gifts but enough already with the coffee cups and teddy bears.

I have a dear friend who is a teacher, She would definitely love one of these boxes. She has had a busy year with her kids. Teaching is a lot harder than I think people know. She has told me some of the stories and wow this job is definitely not for me. Thank goodness we have lots of people like her, Kim is so patient, she is a mother of 3 great kids. She has some children in her class who just need that extra help, Kim is always there to give it to them.
They all love her. She has an entire wardrobe of #1 Teacher shirts, vest, hoodies, that kids have given her over the years. I have found out from talking to her a good teachers gift is a gift card. They love them. It can be for dinner out, the grocery store, gas, or she loves them to the Teachers Store and Barnes and Nobles or Waldenbooks. Thanks for the chance. If I should win this will be going straight to my friend Kim.

I would really appreciate one of these lovely jewelry boxes for my sister. My sister has been a head start teacher for 20 plus years now. She just finished another two years of school, so she could teach grade school children also. Whenever our government makes cutbacks on the head start program, she takes a volunteer pay cut instead of leaving.
When the summer unemployment for teachers was taken away from the head start teachers in her area, my sister did not let that dampen her spirits, she still volunteers her time at the center all summer. Because head start has limited funds she has always bought and paid for art and craft materials out of her own pocket, so these children do not miss out. She also does the office prep and printing work for the center at her home, at her own expense. I could go on and on about what she has done to help these children and keep there center open, but I am going to leave it at this and thank you.

Darryl, I’m cluttercasting as you know but I would love to have one of these boxes for at least one of my sons two teachers. I just found out Friday, that all of last week was Teacher Appreciation week at his school. He never gave me the PTA papers for the gift list of things we were suppose to send to school each day. Now I find myself embarrassed and trying to find something to send them soon. I usually make them a piece of jewelry and would love to be able to put something in one of these boxes. I totally appreciate his teachers, because having been on PTA for 6 years and actively involved in his school, they all know me and will contact me on a dime if homework isn’t in or something isn’t right. Have a great week!

    Hi Darryl,

My daughter would LOVE to have a jewelry box for her school teacher.
She would love giving her teacher this special gift since her teacher is special to her. My daughter says her teacher “wears different earrings every day, likes getting gifts, and I like her a lot”.
As quoted by an 8 year old.

thanks! Please pick her! Terri :)
