Waiting for Wedgewood

I’ve had this set of expresso cups for a long time.  Before Williams Sonoma sold home expresso machines.  Before there was Starbucks.  Before I even liked expresso.

It was a wedding gift—-from my first wedding, 30 years ago.    They’re the finest china—Wedgewood, made in England,  a beautiful satin finish inside with a matte exterior.   The set is considered a classic: still made and still sold.  (for $175)   Very sleek.  Very sophisticated.  Very elegant.

I put the set away, waiting to become sleek and  sophisticated and elegant enough to use it.   I”m still waiting.

OMG! The cups would be just the thing for my friend and neighbor, Syd.
For his birthday, he received an espresso machine-and he has only one espresso cup to his name. These five cups would mean he can share coffee with guests, in style.

My sweet sister and her husband would adore these. They love to drink tea nightly before bed. So awesome.

These would be fantastic in my house. We only have ugly advertising coffee cups, nothing this elegant

    Hi Darryle,
I would love to have these demitasse cups to give to my daughter and her husband for their first year anniversary coming up on June 21. Thank you for your consideration.

I rec’d the espresso cups this morn and immediately delivered them to Syd.
So,a brief song of ‘Happy Birthday” and he was ecstatic; ( can I say that about a man?)
He enjoyed the story of how this all came about, and within minutes he served espresso in the very modern cups. Yes, I was a first guest for espresso!
Dear Donna, Syd’s wife is sending a pic of Syd with cup of espresso.
We are artists’ in the Santa Cruz Mountains, we love to have laughs and this is one great connection! So appreciated.
